The one before the REALLY exciting one!

This is the newsletter before the really exciting one which will be telling you all that we’ve started production. It is getting very close now and we know it’s the news you are all waiting for! Thanks for all your patience so far, and if you can wait just a little longer we’ll have some super exciting news to share soon.

So what’s been happening since the last newsletter? For those not following us on social media you may have missed that we completed the boiler commissioning and created a big cloud of steam as part of the safety checks!

We’ve had further works completed around the site to get ready for opening - including tarring at the back of the site and the creation of the access path and steps at the front of the building. We reckon we need a pop of colour at the front so will be adding some plants to brighten things up! Any suggestions for hardy plants that can cope with lots of wind are welcome!

We also had the distillery floor painted last week - as you can see it made quite a difference.. the pics below show the floor primed and then the final finish. We think the copper of the stills and the silver stainless look great against the dark blue.

Seeing as we can’t tell you the REALLY exciting news quite yet… we thought we’d give you a teaser of some other news. As you know we won’t be releasing our own Single Malt until we believe it’s ready and that could be a number of years as we are solely driven by the spirit quality.

So that we’ll have bottles available while you wait for our Single Malt we’ll be releasing some small batch blended whisky and some single cask bottlings in the coming months. We’re looking forward to experimenting with different cask finishes for these and seeing how additional maturation in John O’Groats will impact the final bottlings. Watch this space for more news once we’ve opened!
