Why are we called 8 Doors Distillery?
Our name is inspired by the legend surrounding Jan De Groot - the man that John O’Groats takes it’s name from. And the story behind the 8-sided house he built near the shore.

WINTER OPENING HOURS: Thursday to Tuesday, 10am - 4:30pm.
During the winter months, we operate seasonal hours, closing a bit earlier. Please note that the coffee shop and bar are closed one day a week during these months.
From 18th November until the end of February 2027 we will be closed on a Wednesday.

Our Distillery
Scotland’s most northerly mainland whisky distillery opened in September 2022. We may be biased, but as the most northerly distillery on the UK mainland we think we have the best view. We can’t wait to welcome you so you can see for yourself.

We’re Kerry and Derek Campbell, founders of 8 Doors Distillery. We’ve had a passion for whisky for many years and made our dream a reality in 2022 when we opened the doors to our own whisky distillery in John O’Groats.
