King Charles officially opens 8 Doors Distillery

We were delighted to welcome His Majesty, The King, to officially open 8 Doors Distillery on 2nd August 2023.

We thoroughly enjoyed sharing the story of our distillery with him and offering him a chance to taste our Seven Sons peated Single Malt bottling. He also toured the visitor centre and distillery before we invited him to sample our new make spirit and fill a cask in our warehouse.

A truly memorable day for the whole team at the distillery, sharing our passion for both the whisky industry and the local area with the King.

We really appreciated The King (…yes The King… we still have to pinch ourselves that he was here and opened our distillery!) taking such an interest in what we have created, the young people work with us and the team around us. He took the time to ask questions and provide words of encouragement to us all.

The King filled a 250L, American Oak, PX cask in our warehouse and once the spirit has matured the cask will be bottled to raise money for charity.

The team celebrate the official opening.

We have to give a special mention to Freytag Anderson who designed the official plaque, EVM for manufacturing the copper panel and Calum Macleod who brought it all together in the stunning cask end which we now have on display in the distillery visitor centre.

King Charles unveils a plaque to commemorate the official opening of 8 Doors Distillery.
